On Thursday October 11, 2018 from 4-6 pmat Bibliophile, 5519 Queen Mary Rd, Canadian-American poet Frances Payne Adler reads from her book, Making of a Matriot (Red Hen Press), a collection of narrative poems in the context of her definition of matriot: one who perceives national defense as health, education, shelter for all. Author of 5 books, Adler is Professor Emerita and Founder of the Creative Writing and Social Action Program at California State University Monterey Bay. She grew up in Montreal, in Snowdon, and trained/worked as an emergency room nurse at the Jewish General Hospital. Adler, who is a cousin of Leonard Cohen and sadly, never met him, now lives in Portland, Oregon. More at redhen.org
