Congregation Machzikei Hadas is a modern Orthodox synagogue in Ottawa, Ontario, with a proud history. Machzikei Hadas is a warm and welcoming community and promotes positive Jewish experiences in an inclusive environment. Through education, worship and community, they put forth a united effort to create opportunities that benefit and ensure the future of the synagogue. In its new location, it extends services to 500 families. These include a host of youth, seniors, educational, and public awareness programs.

Executive Director
Congregation Machzikei Hadas is poised for growth. They are looking for an organized, detail-oriented, tech-savvy, entrepreneurial and inspirational leader with demonstrated financial management and fundraising experience. The Executive Director will have exceptional interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills.

The Executive Director plays a critical role in supporting the Board and Clergy to achieve both the spiritual and financial health of Congregation Machzikei Hadas and the members it serves. He/she will bring their passion and deep commitment to building the Jewish community for the future and will develop and lead proactive and inspiring initiatives towards new member development, building on the current momentum and accelerating growth exponentially.

The Executive Director will manage the day-to-day operations; oversee the accounting functions; provide exceptional leadership to staff; drive and lead successful fundraising and marketing initiatives; manage programming; implement and coordinate all Synagogue activities with the Rabbi, Board members and volunteers; develop and implement strategies for member attraction and retention and promote a positive image of the Synagogue.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in business administration or relevant education and/or experience; strategic leadership, development and management experience in Jewish communal organizations or Jewish Federations, businesses or not-for-profit organizations; previous demonstrated experience effectively leading financial operations; a demonstrated track record of fundraising success; excellence in organizational management; the ability to develop and drive both short and long-term strategies; facilities management and volunteer recruitment experience; exceptional communication and relationship building skills and general knowledge of Jewish culture, practices and tradition.
